We want beer!

Today, December 5th, marks the 79th anniversary of the ratification of the 21st Amendment to the Unites States Constitution . . . more commonly known as the Repeal of Prohibition.

Prohibition was enacted in 1919 in a misguided attempt to protect the people of America from themselves . . . more specifically alcoholism, crime, poverty and mental illness.

Within a matter of a few years it was obvious that Prohibition wasn't working as nosie-body do-gooders had intended . . . laws only effect people who obey them.  Criminals will continue to commit crimes . . . like rum running, boot legging, bathtub gin making, moonshining and speak easying (yeah, I made that word up).  Anyone who truly wants or needs to consume alcohol will find a way . . . heck, people nowadays are drinking hand sanitizer in the hopes of catching a buzz.

So, how will I be celebrating the repeal of this abomination of a constitutional amendment?  Drinking a beer and a pickle shot!

Om nom nom.
