S'mores Stout Infusion

Summer time is camping time.  What goes better with camping than s'mores by the campfire?

How about a beer that tastes a bit like that traditional camping treat?

I know, it sounds amazing doesn't it?   It's easy to make right in your own kitchen by infusing some simple ingredeints to make a beerific taste sensation.

Using a French press, I infused graham crackers, vanilla, and Dominican ground cocoa nibs with a stout.

You can use any stout you like, just don't use a "big" beer that will overpower and drown out the other flavors.  Try a smoked stout or porter for even more awesome campfire flavor!

S'mores Stout Infusion

Pour one teaspoon cocoa nibs into the pot along with a couple of graham crackers and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Top that with a 12 ounce bottle of stout. Gently stir to release the grounds trapped in the foam so that they will fall into the beer. Let the cocoa, crackers and vanilla rest in the beer for 4 minutes.  Finally, press the filter down slowly and pour into a glass.

(note: you may want to use an additional paper filter to make sure all the smooshy cracker bits are filtered out)

The result was very good.  The aroma was remarkably s'mores-like.

The transformation in the stout was fantastic.  It had all the flavors of a s'mores but without all the sticky sweetness.

S'mores and beer all in the same glass!  Awesomeness!

Cheers!

Note:  I use Choffee brand ground cocoa  nibs.  This infusion used La Española.  They can be ordered directly from my friend Kat here. Let her know you heard about them from me.
