Sea Dog Pumpkin

In my ongoing quest for autumnal beerficness, I came across this delightful pumpkin brew hidden among the Oktoberfest, spiced and other pumpkin ales in my favorite beer store.

I snatched up the last bottle of Sea Dog Pumpkin on the shelf and whisked it away.  If it's the last bottle on the shelf, it's safe to reason it's pretty good beer, right?

Well, that's my logic and I'm sticking to it.

Sea Dog Pumpkin comes in at a nicely sessionable 5% ABV. Good thing too! I could pack a few of these away. It's too bad I only had one.

It pour a clear bright pumpkin orange with almost no head.

The aroma was a warm burst of pumpkin and pie spices. Quite drooly.

The taste was a nice mild pumpkin pie flavor. This brew is gently spiced and pleasant; not as pie in your face bold as some pumpkin beers are. Both styles have their merits but this was a nice change of pace. The flavor was pumpkin and spice through and through with nary a touch of bitterness. The finish leaves your palate with the remnants of spices.

The mouthfeel is fairly light with nice carbonation.

Sea Dog Pumpkin is a nice tasty beer. Perfect for the season and good for just about anyone who wants a taste of autumn or a mellow pumpkin beer.

Overall: good
